Physiotherapy & Pelvic Problems - The Evidence

The Cochrane Collaboration 2010 concluded that “physiotherapists with specialized training in pelvic floor rehabilitation should be the first line of defence, before surgical consultation, for stress, urge and mixed incontinence” Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2010 Jan 20;(1)

In 2012 a randomised controlled study of Interstitial Cystitis/Painful Bladder Syndrome found that Myofascial Physical Therapy was more effective than General Massage Therapy. J Urol. 2012 Jun; 187(6): 2113–2118.

Physiotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for many cases of pelvic pain and pelvic floor problems.
