Matt was born and raised in Sydney, studied a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and then Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Since moving up here he’s loved everything about it here from the people and the relaxed atmosphere to the beautiful coast line.  He’s a keen sports fan and enjoys basketball, volleyball and snowboarding – he tries to go to the snow every year and follows the NBA as much as he can.

1. What do you love most about your job/industry?

There’s not much better than the feeling of helping someone else, especially when you can help them overcome a serious or chronic injury and return to doing something they love and enjoy the most. It’s a rewarding part of working in physiotherapy.

2. Areas of interest?

I have lots of experience in working with lower back pain but I also really enjoy working with athletes and sporting injuries as well.

3. Your top tip

My best tip would be, don’t give up on your rehab. Rehabilitation of injuries continue well after pain has stopped. This is usually due to several factors like impaired balance, motor control and posture, but the key factor is reduced strength. So keep up with rehab and don’t quit!

4. People would be surprised if they knew…

I enjoy cooking. That, and I went travelling around the world for nine months.
