Sam is a Coffs Harbour local who grew up living in Upper Orara. Through his schooling years he developed a keen interest in sport and exercise and was a state cross country and athletics runner. He also loves to play soccer, he currently plays for Northern Storm Football Club within the Coastal Premier League.
His love for movement spurred him into completing a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science with Griffith University and then a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology. He’s had significant involvement across multiple roles within the health and fitness industry, including personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Physiotherapy Aide in a hospital setting before completing his higher education to build a distinguished career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
1. What do you love most about your job/industry?
I love the fact that I can be a part of a person’s journey to achieving better health and lifestyle habits. It is deeply satisfying for me to see a person transform themselves using exercise as treatment.
2. Areas of interest?
Metabolic conditions such as Diabetes and Obesity along with all things musculoskeletal.
3. Your top tip
Intensity is everything! A lot of the time people exercise but at a light intensity. All the major health benefits of exercise are achieved through moderate to high intensity exercise.
Add some hills into your walking routes or short periods of fast pace walking!!
