Health care consultations are about much more than just what we can feel and treat with our hands. For example, you might be struggling with some low back pain and need our help. Using online video consults, your therapist can ask you questions and guide you through some movement to be able to get a clear understanding of what the issue is. From there, you can discuss appropriate pain relief and how to modify your daily activities, be shown self-release/massage techniques, and start an exercise program that will reduce your pain and improve your movement. Once your issue is under control, your therapist can work with you to develop a strategy to reduce the risk of your pain coming back. Your goals can be met by working with our team, without you having to leave the house! Telehealth can be just as effective as face-to-face appointments for many conditions.
What is “Telehealth”?
Telehealth consultations involve a 1-on-1 video call with your Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist or Dieitian, where they will be able to assess, diagnose and provide treatment for most musculoskeletal and metabolic conditions. You don’t require any special equipment, it can be done with your smart phone, tablet or computer from the comfort of your home.
We use secure video conference software that is specifically designed for medical appointments, so you can be comfortable that your privacy is protected.
Where the best management of your condition requires specific exercises, your personalised exercise program will be delivered via PhysiApp, which has clearly explained, high quality videos that will make it easy for you to complete your exercises. PhysiApp also allows you to remain in regular contact with your physio via direct text messaging – so help is never far away.
What conditions are appropriate for telehealth?
Most musculoskeletal issues that our Physios routinely see can be assessed and treated effectively via telehealth. If we find on assessment that you are better treated by a face to face session, need a referral for an x-ray, or even to hospital or a specialist, we can help arrange that for you.
Likewise, most conditions that our Exercise Physiologists managing, including musculoskeletal injuries, Diabetes, neurological issues and post surgical rehab can be well managed online. By using our video platform you can learn your exercises, be supervised by the EP and corrected where necessary, while getting new progressions to keep challenging your body to drive improvement.
An online dietitian appointment is almost exactly the same as doing an in-clinic consultation, so there is no real limit to what you can achieve by accessing the consultation through telehealth.
How do I book a telehealth appointment? Do I need a referral?
You can book an appointment online here, or call our clinic on 1300273747. You do not need a referral to book a physiotherapy, exercise physiology or dietetics appointment. If you are needing an appointment that ordinarily attracts payment from another party, such as Medicare, DVA, NDIS or Workers Compensation, you may require a referral or pre-approval – please call our friendly reception team and they will help you with the process.
