With two months of 2019 all but gone, you’re probably wondering what happened to your New Year’s motivation to get healthier.  Did you set some goals to exercise regularly, lose some weight or get your back pain sorted this year?  It’s likely you still want to achieve the goal, but some road blocks have occurred – sore feet, a painful knee or a troublesome shoulder has flared up and stopping you being more active.  The good news is that the team at Mid North Coast Physio has expanded to now include the caring and friendly Sarah Brown, the ideal physio to care for you and your family.  We caught up with Sarah to find out what she brings to the Coffs Coast community.

Tell us a bit about yourself Sarah.

I’ve recently made the permanent move to the Coffs Coast after working in the area throughout last year. I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy through the University of Newcastle, and love working across all areas of physiotherapy. I’ve gathered lots of experience in treating people of all ages and am particularly interested in the value I can provide for conditions unique to women’s and children’s health.

When I’m not at work you can just about always find me at the beach. Rain, hail or shine I love to be outdoors and enjoying the coastline. This made the Coffs Coast the perfect place for me to continue my career.

Why can physiotherapy benefit so many on the Coffs Coast?

I think you can often perceive physiotherapy as a discipline which works predominantly with the athletic population, and only once an injury has occurred. While physios can offer a range of beneficial services to athletes, we also have a wealth of knowledge and expertise for treating and preventing a variety of acute and chronic conditions for clients old, young and somewhere in the middle. We can help you if you’re struggling with pain, looking to get back to your favourite activities after an injury, or if you’re just looking for advice on maximising your health. 

Education and empowerment are invaluable when helping you reach your functional goals. I love working alongside you to achieve health goals that are important for you, whether it’s reaching a new personal best, playing better golf or simply enjoying a walk on the beach without pain.

What advice is most valuable for us wanting to get healthy?

One of my best pieces for advice for anyone looking to make a change to their health is that doing something is always better than doing nothing! The mindset you need is very much “use or lose it”, by adding small activities into your everyday routine you can have large benefits over time. We were made to move and adapt to challenges so now is the perfect time to start working towards better health, and we’re here to help if you need it!
